5 star matches to look forward to this weekend in Europe

Top European footballing leagues will be returning to action after intense final rounds of the FIFA World cup qualifiers in some regions.
There are mouth watering clashes in all Europe's top leagues, from the Premier League to La Liga, Italian Seria A and the German BundesLiga
Here are our top five star matches to look up to this weekend from the best footballing leagues in Europe:
1. Liverpool versus Manchester United :
Date: Saturday, October 14, 2017
Time: 12:30pm (Nigerian time)
Venue: Anfield
Referee: Martin Atkinson
Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United are set to do battle in a tough Premier League encounter at Anfield on Saturday, October 14, 2017.
Last season, both teams shared the spoils in both encounter at Old Trafford and Anfield.
However, despite bring the away side in this side, United are the favourites to take all three points from this tie.
2. Juventus vs Lazio:
Date: Saturday 14th October 2017
Time: 5pm (Nigerian Time)
Venue name: Allianz Stadium
Referee: Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni from Italy
Its always a tough and interesting tie anytime Juventus are facing rivals Lazio and we do not think this game to be any different.
Juventus are in 2nd position while Lazio are currently placed 4th which means both teams have all to fight for it this game. Considering Head to Head records of both clubs, Juventus stand as favourites to emerge with all three points from this one.
3. Roma vs Napoli:
Time: 7:45pm (Nigerian time)
Venue name: Stadio Olimpico, Rome
Referee: Gianluca Rocchi from Italy
Napoli currently sit top of the Seria A log after winning all seven games played so far this season. However this is their first big test to determine if they will be taken serous as title contenders.
4. Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona:
Date: Saturday 14th October 2017
Time: 20:45 CEST
Venue name: Estadio Wanda Metropolitano
Referee: Antonio Mateu from Spain
Will Atletico Madrid put an end to Barcelona's 100% start to the season? or will it be business as usual for Ernesto Valverde's men?
Barcelona enjoy quite an impressive head to head record against Atletico Madrid and that might likely play into their advantage this time. Though the tactical acumen of Diego Simeone is one never to be easily ignored.
5. Watford vs Arsenal:
Ordinarily a game between Watford and Arsenal should not be tagged as a star match with high hopes that Arsenal will be placed as clear favourites.
However, one cannot neglect easily the current form of Watford going into in this game, and we will not be surprised if they manage to share the spoils with the Gunners on this one.

Pandemonium In Anambra Over Army Free Medical Service, 3 P upils Rumored Dead.

There is pandemonium in Anambra state as students are running helter skelter over what is rumored to be the death of 3 pupils in Ozubulu/Nnewi during free army medical services.

It was reported that some people in military uniform arrived a school in the area and started forcing them to take injection which led to the death of 3 pupils from yet-to-be identified school.

As 10 am today, parents are hurriedly zooming to schools to take their respective wards.

All the schools around the area are currently under lock.

PRESS STATEMENT ACCORDING TO THE ARMY MEDICAL OUTREACH.
The attention of the State Government has been drawn to an on going medical outreach being undertaken by the Army in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
The State has been made to understand that the exercise is part of Army social responsibility to members of the public.
However, strong apprehension among the populace has followed the exercise leading to withdrawal of students from schools by parents, misconception of the actual motive behind the exercise by stakeholders, community leaders and a general reservation by the public for whom the outreach is intended.
To this end and to ensure no further escalation of the situation, His Excellency the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has contacted the Army Authories and advised for immediate stoppage of the medical outreach until wide sensitization is conducted to reassure people of its intentions and benefits. The exercise has therefore been put on hold.
Parents and guardians are strongly advised to stop withdrawing their wards from schools as the situation has been handled. All schools within the State will remain open as there is no cause for alarm! Community leaders, Presidents General and all Stakeholders are hereby reassured of the commitment of the Governor and the State Government to the wellbeing  of Ndi Anambra.
The State Government also strongly condemns observed rhetorics on social media completely misrepresenting the situation with insinuations of spread of diseases and death of students in schools arising from the exercise. The State categorically refutes these rhetorics and confirms that there is no death of any student anywhere in the State. Mischief makers are warned to desist from spreading falsehood. Anambra remains calm and peaceful!

Thank you!

Prof Solo Chukwulobelu
Secretary to the State Government.

10 infected, 49 under surveillance as Monkey Pox hitsBayelsa

- Monkey pox is a rare disease that occurs primarily in remote parts of Central and West Africa, near tropical rain forests-
Its outbreak in Bayelsa state has caused panic in Nigeria.

Yesterday gripped residents of Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, following an outbreak of viral epidemic known as Monkey Pox in the state, with report that 10 persons are already infected. Authorities in the state were said to be tracking 49 persons alleged to have come in contact with the infected persons.
The victims, according to sources, have been quarantined in an isolation centre created at the Niger Delta University Hospital, NDUTH, Okolobiri, in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state. The isolation centre was reportedly created by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, and the epidemiological team of the state’s Ministry of Health at the outbreak of the epidemic.

A patient of Monkey Pox
The NCDC and the epidemiological team, it was learned, were tracking 49 other individuals, said to have come in contact with the infected persons. Commissioner reacts The state Commissioner for Health, Professor Ebitimitula Etebu, while confirming the development, said samples of the virus had been sent to the World Health Organisation, WHO, laboratory in Dakar, Senegal, for confirmation. He described Monkey Pox as a viral illness caused by a group of viruses that include chicken pox and small pox, noting that the first case was noticed in the Democratic Republic of Congo and subsequently it had outbreaks in the West African region. Explaining that the virus had the Central African and the West African types, the commissioner said the West African type was milder and had no records of mortality, saying “recently in Bayelsa State, we noticed a suspected outbreak of Monkey Pox. “It has not been confirmed. We have sent samples to the World Health Organisation, WHO, reference laboratory in Dakar, Senegal. When that comes out we will be sure that it is confirmed.” Index case He said the virus was first seen in monkeys, but can also be found in all bush animals such as rats, squirrels and antelopes. His words: “The source is usually all animals. It was first seen in monkeys and that is why it is called Monkey Pox. But every bush animals like rats, squirrels, antelopes are involved. So, the secretions from particularly dead animals are highly contagious.” He listed the dicease’s symptoms to include severe headache, fever, back pains among others. According to him, “most worrisome of all the signs are rashes bigger than those caused by chicken pox, which is usually frightening and usually spread to the whole body of infected persons. The Commissioner said: “We noticed the index case from Agbura, where somebody was purported to have killed and eaten a monkey and after neighbours and family members started developing these rashes. “We have seen cases from as far as Biseni. We invited the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control together with our own epidemiological team from the Bayelsa Ministry of Health. We have been able to trace most of the people who have come in contact with the patients. “I think so far we have 10 patients and we have created an isolation centre at the NDUTH and most of them are on admission; we are following up on the 49 cases that we are suspecting might come down with the illness. Immunity for life “As a state, we are taking care of all the expenses of all the isolated cases. The disease has an incubation period and it is also self-limiting in the sense that within two to four weeks, you get healed and it confers you with immunity for life. “We have mobilised virtually every arsenal at our disposal in terms of sensitising the public and making them aware by radio programmes, jingles and fliers. So the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control has mobilised fully to Bayelsa State. We are on top the situation. “The only thing I will tell the public is to observe hand hygiene and ensure they don’t come in contact with dead animals or their secretions. The disease is air borne too. So when you come down with it is very infectious. “People should wash their hands whenever they go in or come out of their houses. If they come in touch with animals, they should ensure that they wash their hands. They should be very vigilant. People should report any similar cases. “A lot of people have come down with the symptoms, but they are hiding in their houses. If they hide, there is the propensity for the infection to spread. It is better to quarantine them and treat so that we can interrupt the spread of the disease. “People should be calm and they shouldn’t get frightened. The state has distributed personal protective equipment to workers and they are using it accordingly.”

Unizik latest news

The much anticipated and participated Unizik post-utme exams, have ended successfully yesterday.

*We wish You all Goodluck as You await for your admission status.*

*The First Batch of Admission is to be out before 23rd of this month.*

*It hasn't been ascertained on the method of how the University will admit candidates that performed well in jamb and post-utme exams but the previous process is mostly likely to be adopted.*

*FORMULA.*
*Each department has its own average cut off mark ,the average can be adjusted higher or lower depending on the degree of performance from the participated candidates.*

*The school management is yet to release this year's cut off mark but will be done after some crucial deliberations from the University Senate.*

*To know your own average ,kindly multiply your post--utme score by 4, then you add the result to your jamb score and divide it by 2.*
*For example.*
*Jamb score : 252*
*Post Utme : 58*

*58 *4=232*
*232+252=484*
*Then you divide the total by 2.*
*484/2=242*
*242 is the average cut off for someone that scores 252 in jamb and 58 in post Utme.*

*Then if You are the bearer of such average you can now expect your departmental cut off mark to know if you are below or above the cut off mark.*
*That's what determines your admission status.*

*THEN FOR THOSE WHO MAY MISS THE ADMISSION BY SOME UNFORESEEN FACTORS BUT WOULD LIKE TO ENGAGE IN OTHER PROGRAMS IN THE UNIVERSITY LIKE   JUPEB, CEP ,PRE-SCIENCE AND CONFUCIUS STUDIES.*

*You still have time to enroll in any of them.*

*{1} JUPEB*
*{JOINT UNIVERSITY PROGRAM EDUCATION BOARD}:*
*This is a six months program that avails you the opportunity to enter directly to 200level once you pass the program.*

*You are to study three courses under the program. Which in totality of 15marks to be awarded.*
*Once you score 7-8marks out of 15marks depending on the department , you are favoured to be admitted.*

*You must be passionate and sacrificial towards your studies of 6months intensive and constant Reading for You to excel in the program.*
*THE FORM IS STILL PRESENTLY ON SALE.*

*II} CEP : CONTINUOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM.*
*This is a kind of weekend program in Unizik.*
*It offers the same certificate with normal regular programs but the only difference is that it's been studied for 6years instead of 4years of regular program.*

*You can be working and as well be doing the program.*

*It offers mostly art, social sciences, some education and natural science courses.*
*THE FORM IS PRESENTLY ON SALE.*

*III } PRE-SCIENCE PROGRAM : It is specifically for candidates that want to apply for science courses.*
*It's a 6months program that avails you the chance of getting admission once you pass their examination at the end of the program.*
*It's a good alternative to jamb for science students that can sacrifice for six months and read hard. Once you score up-to 200 you are 100% sure of Admission.*
*THE FORM IS YET TO BE OUT.*

*IV} CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE: This is a Chinese program in Unizik that is centered on teaching Chinese language and culture and as well awarding scholarships to the ones that participated excellently.*

*You can run it as a student which you will apply for it through Jamb and get admission as a four-year regular course program or you can as well run it as an auxiliary program which is for two years.*
*At the end a certificate will be issued to you, which can earn you recognition and opportunity at any public engagement.*
*THE FORM WILL BE OUT BY DECEMBER/JANUARY.*

*THE CHOICE BELONGS TO YOU.*

*ADMISSION AWARDING SEQUENCE.*

*A} Firstly The candidates with merit-based marks are to be shortlisted in the first Batch.*

*B}Secondly candidates that passed PRE-SCIENCE program, JUPEB ,Direct Entry candidates and some average considered scores are to be shortlisted in the second Batch.*

Messi Deal ‘Signed’ By Agent, Claims Bartomeu

Barcelona’s under-fire president Josep Maria Bartomeu launched acounter-attack on his critics on Tuesday by insisting a four-year contract extension for Lionel Messi has been signed by the player’s agentand father, Jorge Horacio Messi.
Barca announced an agreement withthe five-time World Player of the Year in July, but Messi himself is yet to put pen to paper amid rumours he is unhappy with the running of the club.Messi’s current deal expires in 2018 meaning he could leave Barca for free next summer.“It is all agreed and signed,” said Bartomeu in an interview with Barcelona-based daily Sport.“There are three contracts: one with Messi’s foundation, that is signed by the president of the foundation and the player’s brother; a contract with Leo Messi’s image rights, thathis father and administrator of his company have signed; and the work contract that Leo’s father has signed.”When pressed on the delay in Messi signing the deal, Bartomeu claimedboth the player and club’s hectic start to the season was to blame and that it would be resolved within a month.“There are no problems. All that is left is the protocol of the signature. We are calm,” he added.Bartomeu and his board have received fierce criticism for their handling of the recently closed transfer window as Paris Saint-Germain enticed Neymar away fromthe Catalan giants for a world record 222 million euros ($263.7 million).A vote of no confidence motion has been launched by former Barca presidential candidate Agusti Benedito that could oust Bartomeu if it receives enough support from theclub’s members in the coming weeks. However, Bartomeu described the loss of the Brazilian as an “opportunity” for Barca to build their team around the midfield rather than a superstar front three of Neymar, Messi and Luis Suarez.“The trident was very good but it had its consequences. It is an opportunity to return to the collective football in the middle of the field, which traditionally was Barca’s strength.“It is an opportunity, with a new coach, a new project. We need to stop being pessimistic!”Neymar’s departure sparked a haphazard shopping spree from Barca, who landed 20-year-old French winger Ousmane Dembele for an initial 105 million euro fee from Borussia Dortmund and Paulinho for 40 million from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande. However, Barca missed out on a host of other targets, including Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, blaming the rampant inflation in the transfer market caused by PSG and Abu Dhabi-backed ManchesterCity.La Liga has asked UEFA to investigate both PSG and City for breaches of financial fair play rules.“Qatar and Abu Dhabi are two countries that have two clubs,” addedBartomeu.“If Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Real Madrid or Arsenal buy a player from you, you know (themoney) comes from football.“But these two clubs distort the market.”

“Re-Arrest Nnamdi Kanu, Face Consequences” – Militants Tell FG

Niger Delta militants have warned the Federal Government of the dangers the country would face, if the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu,
 is re-arrested by security agents.
The militants also gave government a two-week ultimatum to release two members of IPOB, Chidiebere Onwudiwe and Bright Chimezie, who had been in detention, threatening to commence attack after the expiration.
The militants, consisting of members of Niger Delta People Democratic Front (NDPDF), Concerned Militant Leaders (CML) and Rainbow Marabas (RM), gave the warning yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after their crucial meeting.
Leaders of the groups identified as General Iyoyo Playboy (NDPDF), General Ben (CML) and General Billy Anaeja, warned that re-arrest of Kanu would cause spontaneous attacks in major states in the country.
The group further accused the Federal Government of playing politics with the lives of Nigerians, particularly people from South East and South-South geo-political zones. A statement jointly issued by Iyoyo, Ben and Anaeja, through their tweet handle, flayed the Federal Government for exhibiting hatred on the regions and individuals that expressed dissatisfaction with the All Progressives Congress (APC) style of administration.
They stated: “Federal Government has shown, through its moves to re-arrest Nnamdi Kanu, that it does not value lives of Nigerians. Government wants to use the attempt to re-arrest the IPOB Leader to escalate the crisis in the country. “If government is serious, it should go ahead to arrest and wait for the result. We will back IPOB and give the group support in any form, even without them expecting it.”
“We learnt that Federal Government has deployed more security to the South-South and South-East geo-political zones because of Nnamdi Kanu. We dare them to go ahead and execute”, they warned.
They wondered why the Federal Government had remained silent over the activities of Northern youths against the Igbo and killings by Fulani herdsmen.
“What has Federal Government done about arresting Arewa youths, who hate the Igbo people with passion? What has Federal Government done with the Fulani herdsmen? How many of them have been arrested. Why is it silent, but is worried about a non-violent IPOB?
“We are reiterating our stand that we, the Niger Delta agitators, will resist any attempt to re-arrest the IPOB leader. We will resist FG and face the consequences. We are not begging those ruling not to go ahead and execute their plot”, the militants stressed.
