Top European footballing leagues will be returning to action after intense final rounds of the FIFA World cup qualifiers in some regions.
There are mouth watering clashes in all Europe's top leagues, from the Premier League to La Liga, Italian Seria A and the German BundesLiga
Here are our top five star matches to look up to this weekend from the best footballing leagues in Europe:
1. Liverpool versus Manchester United :
Date: Saturday, October 14, 2017
Time: 12:30pm (Nigerian time)
Venue: Anfield
Referee: Martin Atkinson
Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United are set to do battle in a tough Premier League encounter at Anfield on Saturday, October 14, 2017.
Last season, both teams shared the spoils in both encounter at Old Trafford and Anfield.
However, despite bring the away side in this side, United are the favourites to take all three points from this tie.
2. Juventus vs Lazio:
Date: Saturday 14th October 2017
Time: 5pm (Nigerian Time)
Venue name: Allianz Stadium
Referee: Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni from Italy
Its always a tough and interesting tie anytime Juventus are facing rivals Lazio and we do not think this game to be any different.
Juventus are in 2nd position while Lazio are currently placed 4th which means both teams have all to fight for it this game. Considering Head to Head records of both clubs, Juventus stand as favourites to emerge with all three points from this one.
3. Roma vs Napoli:
Time: 7:45pm (Nigerian time)
Venue name: Stadio Olimpico, Rome
Referee: Gianluca Rocchi from Italy
Napoli currently sit top of the Seria A log after winning all seven games played so far this season. However this is their first big test to determine if they will be taken serous as title contenders.
4. Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona:
Date: Saturday 14th October 2017
Time: 20:45 CEST
Venue name: Estadio Wanda Metropolitano
Referee: Antonio Mateu from Spain
Will Atletico Madrid put an end to Barcelona's 100% start to the season? or will it be business as usual for Ernesto Valverde's men?
Barcelona enjoy quite an impressive head to head record against Atletico Madrid and that might likely play into their advantage this time. Though the tactical acumen of Diego Simeone is one never to be easily ignored.
5. Watford vs Arsenal:
Ordinarily a game between Watford and Arsenal should not be tagged as a star match with high hopes that Arsenal will be placed as clear favourites.
However, one cannot neglect easily the current form of Watford going into in this game, and we will not be surprised if they manage to share the spoils with the Gunners on this one.
